Sam Toney, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer, Health Integrated

Dr. Sam Toney is a graduate of the University of South Alabama where he was the recipient of the Eugene Bondurant award in Psychiatry and obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1984. Dr. Toney then completed his residency in Psychiatry at the University of South Florida in Tampa in 1988 where he served as Chief Outpatient Resident and pursued a clinical focus on anxiety disorders under the direction of Dr. David Sheehan.

Dr. Toney maintained a private practice in Psychiatry from 1988-1990 and then launched his career in administrative medicine serving as President and Medical Director of Place One Counseling Center from 1990-1992 where he designed a number of clinical initiatives including a comprehensive partial hospitalization program. Dr. Toney then served as National Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Services for AccessCare/Comprehensive Behavioral Care from 1992-1995.

Subsequently, Dr. Toney founded Health Integrated in 1996 where he designed and implemented an integrated approach for medical and behavioral utilization management, case management and disease management programs. Dr. Toney continues his work with Health Integrated in Tampa, Florida where he serves as Chief Medical Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
